Our warranty. What it covers, how long it lasts, and what happens when you call.
Your name on the card. Not ours.
When your roof is complete, we file the manufacturer warranty registration within 14 days. The certificate comes back with your name, your address, and your coverage period on it. That is your document, not ours. It goes in your files, not in our drawer.
The manufacturer warranty covers the roofing materials, shingles, underlayment, accessories. What "covered" means specifically depends on the product tier you chose. Lifetime shingles from major manufacturers typically carry full coverage for the first 10 to 50 years on an owned home, with prorated coverage after. We walk you through your specific coverage at the close of every job.
Why does registration in your name matter? Because if the company that installed your roof has dissolved, and that is very common in this industry, a warranty registered in that company's name may not be enforceable. When it is in your name, you own the coverage. We have seen this come up in real claims. We started filing in the homeowner's name on day one of AE Roofing because of it.
The manufacturer covers the product.
We cover the install.
Manufacturer warranties do not cover installation errors. They cover the materials. If a flashing was set improperly, if a nail pattern was off, if a valley was flashed in a way that channels water incorrectly, that is an installation defect. It is not covered by the shingle manufacturer.
Our written workmanship guarantee covers the installation. It is separate from the manufacturer warranty and covers failures that trace to how the roof was built. If you call with an issue and it turns out the problem is the way something was installed, we come back and fix it. No charge. The guarantee goes with the job, not the individual crew members.
We come back. Twice.
Six months after completion, we schedule a follow-up inspection. Free. No request needed from you, we proactively schedule it. We check the flashings, the penetrations, ridge caps, any areas that were complex during install. If we find anything, we fix it.
Twenty-four months after completion, we come back again. Same deal. By then the roof has been through a full Oklahoma weather cycle. Hail season, ice season, the big temperature swings in spring and fall. We want to see how everything held.
Most roofing companies never come back after final payment. We know that because we hear it from homeowners who have used other contractors. The follow-up visits are not a marketing feature. They are how we find out if anything is wrong before it becomes a bigger problem.
What can void a warranty in Oklahoma.
Any roof work done after our install by an unregistered contractor can affect both warranties.
High-pressure washing strips granules from asphalt shingles and can invalidate manufacturer coverage.
Applying products not approved for that shingle line can void manufacturer coverage immediately.
Adding skylights, satellite dishes, or solar panels without notifying us can affect workmanship coverage in the affected areas.
If a leak starts and is left unreported for an extended period, secondary damage (rot, mold, ceiling damage) may not be covered under the workmanship guarantee.
What does the manufacturer warranty actually cover?
It covers the shingles and roofing materials themselves, defects in the product and premature failure. The exact coverage terms vary by manufacturer and product tier. GAF's Lifetime warranty, for example, covers shingles for as long as you own the home, with full coverage for the first 10-50 years depending on the product. We register every warranty in the homeowner's name within 14 days of job completion. The certificate comes with your address and your name on it.
What does the workmanship guarantee cover that the manufacturer warranty does not?
Installation errors. If a flashing was set wrong, a nail was driven at the wrong angle, or a penetration was sealed improperly, the manufacturer's warranty does not cover that. It covers their product, not our labor. Our written workmanship guarantee covers the installation itself. If something fails because of how it was installed, we come back and fix it at no charge. That guarantee goes with the job, not the crew that did it.
What can void a roofing warranty in Oklahoma?
A few things. Work performed on the roof by an unlicensed contractor after our installation. Power washing the roof surface. Walking the roof repeatedly without cause. Applying paint or coatings not approved for that shingle product. In Oklahoma specifically, hail and wind damage severe enough to damage the underlying structure can affect the mechanics of how a warranty claim is processed. We document everything pre-installation to give you a clean baseline if you ever need to file. Keep any permits, inspection reports, and your warranty certificate in a safe place.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Call us first. Most issues we see at the 6-month or 24-month follow-up visits are workmanship items we handle directly without involving the manufacturer. If it is a product defect, we file the manufacturer claim on your behalf, walk through the documentation with the rep, and manage the process. You do not have to navigate that alone. Our number is the same one you called when you first hired us.
The next storm
isn't waiting.
Whether your shingles are curling, your gutters are sagging, or you just want a second opinion before your insurer's deadline runs out, book the inspection. We don't charge for it, and we don't push for it.
